I have a 1985 (300, I6) Bronco and it won't start and it will not go into gear. Here is what I have replaced so far.
Ignition switch
key lock cylinder
It will start from the soilenoid. The (automatic, on the column) shift lever will not work no matter what. Even if I have started the trck by the solenoid. I am stumped and i would greatly appreciate any help in this matter.

If you have not found the problem yet , there is a rod inside the steering column housing that goes from the ignition to a switch farther down the column.I had an 88 F-150 with the same
problem and that rod had come loose. That rod is what lets it go into gear and also starts the truck.Ihope this helps.

Try shifting to Neutral and see if it will start. That is if the shifter will let you. I'm having trouble (me and my old age) truly interpreting the symptoms and what you have done.
