okay I know a ton of people who slap a supercharger on their truck but has anyone thought about puttin a turbo on? I have been looking at this site: www.superchargedpower.com and have been drooling. I know I have a ton of parts to replace just to put this on but I think it would be worth it. If I get the jist of it right the turbo has a better curve in both horsepower and torque than a supercharger does. I may be way off on that and if so smack me.

heres some things I am doing to prepare for the turbo, tell me if you think I am crazy in a good or bad way;

edlebrock 70mm throttle body
edlebrock intake mannifold
new coils(haven't decided who to go with yet)
new distributer and cap
new head gasket

please give me the 411 on your thoughts with this one!

Hmmm.....on the street the turbo would be way fun! But i think it might be a little impractical for off roading. Plus with the turbo you need custom headers/manifold, intercooler ( for big boost, you might be able to run 6-7 PSI no problems), bigger injectors, custom burned PROM, BOV, definitely an engine rebuild, as Boost would cause oil blowby, etc, etc, etc, in my opinion its just too much work and money, you might spend 3-4K on a turbo kit, whereas on the S/C you might only spend 2-3K and you have all the parts you need. Also, you have to worry about turbo lag. Plus, an S/C provides constant boost. Anyway, its just up to you, if i was goin to go Forced Induction, id go with an ATI Procharger.

Having spent the last 2 years in japan, where superchargers are un-heard of and EVERYONE runs turbo's, I'd say i'm partial to a turbo, turbo lag isn't the problem it was a few years ago, and the hit against a supercharger is it taxes the engine out of about 15-20 horse power, if i rember correctly. with a turbo you dont run into that problem. I can't speak to turbos and off roading, as I messed around with turbo street cars over there (skylines and 180 sylvia's) most turbo kits that i have seen for mustang 5.0's come with everything you need, injectors, fuel pumps & rails ecm chips, manifolds etc. and most will add an intercoolers for a about 1500 more. the installation, from what ive seen is fairly simple, though time-consuming. here are some links:
basics of a turbo:

turbo v. superchager

I'm not sure how compatible the 5.0 mustang and bronco engines are, but here are some turbo mustang sites
http://www.proturbokits.com/ this one has 5.8 'stang kits too

Again i can't speak to turbos and off roading, but i dont see why it wouldn't work, as long as you had a quality air filter on there.
