driving down the road, minding my own biz, when all of a sudden smoke starts pouring out the vents! by the time I managed to find a place to pull over the entire truck was full of smoke, my throat is still burning a lil, didn't have a flash light so I couldn't really look around too much once the smoke cleared, after thinking for a lil bit I figured it was probobly the heater core or something to do with the heater in general, but was confused cause whenever I would turn on anything electrical smoke would start pouring out again, even just turning on the headlights, so I unplugged the wires going to the heater core, looking in my haynes at the moment I'm guessing it was the wires for the fan, now it's not smoking, gotta pull it apart and find out what exactly needs replacing...talk about freaked me out man...as well as embarrassing with your ex in there with ya and you just got done dissin her ex's truck On a happier note my younger cousin talked me into doin' a lil light muddin out in the woods by a levee, since I only have two wheel drive atm I decided it'd be best to keep up a lil momentum, didn't get too muddy but had a blast especially since this is the first time I've been offroad in the beast since I purchased it

My guess is the brower motor.... Your heater core has nothing to do with electric heating elements its heated by your coolant. |

older fords and wiring go hand in hand with fires, to come through the vents it was around the blower motor but it should have shut off and stopped blowing, could have been a underdash or under hood fire, did it smell like plastic or leaves or what? Carry a fire extinguisher, you never know, you may have saved your trucks life had it started to go up

pulled the blower motor today, and I saw some burnt leaves in there, a couple fan blades were a lil messed up so there was a fire in there, I took a vacuum and sucked up everything I saw, tapped the fan wires on the battery and it still works, so since that didn't go out, can it really get hot enough in there to make those leaves catch fire without any kinda spark? there wasn't many leaves in there

alright, thanks for the info, gonna pull apart as much of the heating system as possible to make sure there's no more leaves or anything in there before I hook that motor back up, I don't wanna have a repeat of this experience
