hello everyone, im kind of a noob and im confusted. im planning to go with a superlift 6" suspension lift and a 3" body lift, then some super swamper IROK's 39.5x13.5-15 tires. then i was reading a forum about fords TTB and S.A.S. and im confusted because it said this
"If you go up to 38's or 40s you are going to want more axle than a stock TTB D44. The general rule is 35" max on stock TTB. Some have gone more but most end up going to one ton axles with those size tires. If you choose to risk it still then I'd stay open (no lockers)"
Do i need to replace the I.F.S./TTB to the solid axel or do i need a new diff like a D60 or another better diff? Am i also going to need new lockers, like detroit lockers or ARB's? any help will greatly be appreciated, thanks got_mud
that'll happen. |

If you plan to offroad your Bronco, you should seriously consider swapping 1-ton axles front and rear for 38-40" tires. The extra weight of the tires and wheels will easily break the axle shafts, u-joints and bearings particularly on the front Dana44 TTB. If you just want to show your ride, you can get by with just a lift and the stock, 1/2-ton hardware. I have a 6" Skyjacker susp.lift and 35"tires, and have not broken anything yet (knock on wood!!!). Considering that the cost of a SAS or straight axle swap is close to what I spent on the lift for the TTB, I wish now that I had done the SAS to begin with. I am also not a big fan of body lifts, so the better way to get 8-10" lift is with a straight axle. You will have some alignment problems with the stock TTB after offroading, too. |
