I have a couple of problems concerning a leaky rear side of the oil pan.

1) I have followed the entire manual’s instructions; Motor is free and jacked is high as I can get it to go but I still cannot clear the oil pan past the exhaust pipe. Should I disconnect the U clamp before the muffler to give me more room to maneuver the forward exhaust? Will this allow the pan to clear?

Any suggestions to over come this problem?

2) Rear main oil seal. Since I have come this far is it a good idea to put a two piece rear main in while I have the bronco apart? I believe in the 1993 5.8L the seal is a single piece. Does this matter? What is the difficulty of removing the bearing cap and replacing from under the car?

Is there a good way to tell if the rear seal is bad?
