Maybe I should've put my question here instead of in the Southern Chapter area.
My question is this...I have an '86 FS Bronco with an AOD Transmission and I can't get the d**n thing to stop leaking. It's leaking around the pan and I have already replaced the gasket and filter and it still leaks. Did I do something wrong? Has anyone else had this problem and figured out how to remedy it? If so, how? Thank ya'll for your time.

How bad is it leaking? Did you over-tighten the bolts and squash the gasket?
Mine seaps a bit (has always done it) cuz the bolts back off over time. Next time I have the pan off I plan on putting a dab of silicone on each bolt to try and prevent them from backing off.

Confirm leak is around gasket area. Confirm all bolts are tight in same area. If pan gasket leak is confirmed, drop pan and get rid of cheesy cork gasket and shell out for the rubber one with the metal o-rings in the bolt holes.
BTDT...

I replaced the filter and gasket in my AOD on my 88 about a month ago and had the same problem. I dropped the pan again and gasket sealed the sh*t out of it. No problems as of yet. |
