Who's going?
My ride is questionable. Hoss should be there on 44's. Patrick, and Kris are both questionable as well. Lil-Rob? Carl? etc etc...

I doubt I'll be able to do the drinking the night before...My weekends are limited but this time either I'll be down there helping you or over in lafayette wrenching on my own shit. Eitherway my budget of time and money is way too tight right now.

ATV roads through spillway close
River will crest soon, according to officials

River Parishes bureau
The rising Mississippi River forced the closing of the all-terrain-vehicle areas and roads in the Bonnet Carre Spillway on Tuesday.
Predictions call for the river to crest Saturday evening at 14.5 feet at the Carrollton Gauge in New Orleans, according to the Lower Mississippi River forecast center.
That's the highest this season, but still 2½ feet below flood stage.
Flood level is 17 feet at the Carrollton Gauge, but the levees protect the city as long as the river doesn't top 20 feet.
The river is now at 13.5 feet, according to the forecast center.
Saturday is expected to be the third time the river has crested this year.
After cresting at slightly above 10 feet in January, the river topped-out at 13.6 feet in March.
Water recently began leaking through the pins in the spillway structure, flooding some of the roads and recreation areas, Army Corps of Engineers park ranger Keith Chasteen said .
The spillway structure is designed to open and divert water from New Orleans if the river gets too high. High water Tuesday forced the corps to close the ATV areas, the four-wheel-drive truck area and the main dirt road that runs through the spillway near the river, Chasteen said.
"We anticipate that the area will probably be closed for at least a week or two," he said.
Chasteen said the high river is caused by frequent rain and melting snow in the Ohio River Valley, which feeds into the Mississippi River at Cairo, Ill. |
Someone needs to ake a ride out there, or call or something to see what the deal is...

Not as of yet. I'm trying to contact some people and should have something by Friday... If anyone else can find out sooner or easier feel free...
Oh and I will be there assuming it is open.
I'm posting this mostly so I don't have to look it up again, but supposedly we can call this number for maps and info...

someone can take a look for us, shoot thats betetr than rain, however sheit can get deep out there. Hoss no matter what you can make it some of us other guys who know the area may have to walk you through it so you stay on the roads....I've seen teh spillway under 2 feet of water and that aint no fun for us smaller guys, the fun will be when it falls again and we have 1-2" of water everywhere to play in the slop.
