Hoss Pit Krewe,
Does anyone have any experience with the seals on a Ford 9"? I don't think I can afford to bring it back to Fisher's to get it done, and was wondering how involved it was. I assume there is a gasket/seal somewhere around the pumpkin, and some on the ends. I would appreciate any insight into this matter and would be willing to compensate if anyone knows how to do it. |

thats all a cake walk, assuming its your otter seals or wheel cylinders and the main 9" seal. Aint jack to it, expect a cost of maybe $20 in seals...
Shop time is on the house...we'll just have another get together.

Fisher's said it could be a bent axle rod or the bearings causing it. Do ya'll know how to tell if it's that or just the seals went bad? |

its pretty obvious if its the bearings, they'll be pitted or noticably untrue, its nothing much to do the outter bearings as well again they arent very spendy either, maybe 5-7$ for each side. pulling 9" axle shafts are a cake walk anyway.

It seems to be ok. I haven't driven it since you welded it. We had some Q.T. last night when I let Hoss warm up. I'll probably drive it tomorrow. I want to find somewhere to play in it. |

OK the seals are pretty easy but its a pain in the ass.....they have to be pressed onto the shaft. which means pressing off the ols bearings, seals, and backing plate. My old ones are sitting in the shop if you want to take a look at them. It will give you an idea on how it will go. as for pulling the shafts and stuff the 9" is great cause there are no c-clips so you dont have to touch the differential at all. I would be glad to help ya but it might have to wait til I get back from Virginia. But Josh will be at the house so if ya'll decide to work on it have fun. Im pretty sure we got the seals and Bearings at Pepboys. Remember to go to the commercial desk and get 2 Big Broncos discount. If Donna is the cashier she might give you my discount... I'll be leaving Weds. evening and coming back Mon. night.
