I just purchased the delphi xm radio system. Was sitting in the X looking for the right place to hang it. After about 15 minutes of looking I realized I was not getting anywhere. I was hoping that someone out there has installed a delphi in there X and could give me some ideas.

Dave, I just installed an XM radio in my X. I went with the Pioneer Reciever instead of the Delphi. I could't find a spot for the Delphi except for drilling holes in my dash. I mounted the Pioneer reciever with some velcro above the driver's air vent. Worked great!! Hope this helps.

Hey Dave: I found one of the old telescoping rods from one of my hand's free cell kits and mounted it on the bottom of the center console so that it was just a few inches above the cup holders. Ran the wires under the carpet and into the consule and then wired tied them to the rod itself. Looks very professional and works well. There is a company called pro-fit that makes a braket but i bought it and thought it looked tacky. You can find that braket through crutchfield. It mounts underneath the a/c heater controls.
Hope that helps.

Chris,

Do you have the DVD package. I'd like to replace the stock stereo in mine and I'm trying to work around the dual mode thing.

Thanks
Michael

Last night I traded in my difficult-to-read Sony receiver for the Delphi and am now in the same boat you guys are. However, before we made the purchase for the Delphi, the installer told us Hawk Electronics has vehicle-specific mounts for these units. I'll be heading there next week to get one then I'll let you know how it goes.

Where, incidently, did you mount your antenna?

Hey Dave: I purchased several different antenna's from Crutchfield trying to find the right one to fit, eventually after looking over the entire vehicle I went with the adelphi one that came with it and mounted in the back on the roof and brought the wire in through the third brake light gasket. One of the antenna's that i tried was a through glass type, but the cable was so thick (as it needs power to work) that I just didnt feel comfortable trying to squeeze it through the headliner. Use some double sided heavy duty tape on the mount to protect it from coming off when you go through a car wash. Hope that helps.

I used the Sony magnetic mount antenna with my Sony XM. It is a little smaller than a computer mouse and I mounted it on the roof just above the third brake light. Ran the wire through the brake light opening and under the headliner.

OK, fellas. I had my SkyFi professionally installed with no drilling to the interior. If you would like pics of it, email me privately and I'll be glad to accomodate.
