You only need a double setup if you're running oversize tires with a significant lift. If you're running stock equipment, the single stabilizer will do fine. You won't get any improvement in handling on a stock truck with double stabilizers.

Thanks Roger,
That's what I needed to know. I'm always willing to pay a little more if I get noticeable results. I will go with the single.

You're welcome. The steering stabilizer works to counter sudden shifts in the direction the mass of the front end is going and keeps it from transmitting that shift in direction to the steering wheel. As the mass of the front end increases with oversize wheels and tires, and as a result, the potential leverage exerted on the steering wheel by the heavier and larger front end components increase, then you begin to see the need for the double steering stabilizer setup.
The stock stabilizer is adequate, but the new aftermarket stabilizer that is just slightly larger seems to do a better job. Of course, after the 60k on my old one, I suppose that even a new factory stabilizer would have probably been an improvement!

UGH... I ordered a Rancho stabilizer form 4 wheel parts.com and they sent me a Rancho RS 5413. It doesn't fit!! (supposed to mount to OEM mounts). The part sent to me hase the 0ring bushing on the resivor side, and just a threaded stragith nipple/bolt on the other side. I'm needing the stabilizer tha has the 2 ring bushings on both, like a shock...
4 wheel parts.com says that the Rancho capplication guide for the 2005 Excursion calls for a RS 5413, but I think its wrong... I think it should be the RS 5410 for the 2002-2205 4x4 excursions, as they front end has not changed...
I think Rancho thinks that the excursion front end changed with the SuperDuties?
Can anyone out there confim the Rancho part number I need?
Thanks

On a 2wd x would you use the rancho Stabilizer if you had a lift kit, and, or oversized tires? |

Same thing happened to me on Friday. I got mine from Summit and same info got me the 5413 which wont fit and I sent back today. Guess I need to find one that will fit like you with the 2 eyelets and not a rod end. |

Never did like the way the stab hangs down past the axle housing. The previous owner proved my suspisions by wasting the stab & bracket on the passenger side when he tried to go over a rock. Since I had to get a new bracket anyway, I decided to put it on top. A friend had just spent $75 bucks for a bracket & instructions to lift his Fox-shock, so I had a template. I used 5/16x2"steel strap & bent it as needed to level the tube on top. Drilled 3 holes & wow, it works. The u-bolts will take some convicing as they are meant to go into a groove on the tie-rod. . With this method, everything shifts to the right about 3 inches & as can be seen, I did scratch the diff a bit in getting it set up.
