Hey I am looking to replace the chrome bumper on my 2000 X with the painted type they put on the 2002 and 2003 F-250's and Excursions. I am not looking for the work truck bumper that is one piece, I want the two piece one. I have search E-bay and the web but no one other than FORD sells this bumper?
Please H elp

Byron, I'm not sure that was an 02 item. My 02 X has a two part chrome bumper. I didn't see the painted ones until the 03 models appeared. I might have missed something, however.

I am also considering updating mine from chrome to the painted finish (my X is the deep wedgewood blue with gold lower panels). I don't plan to buy new bumpers. I'll simply remove these, sandblast off all of the chrome, and take them to a paint shop for priming & final coat. The paint shops have all the "good stuff" for painting such items ... especially when the front bumper must be fairly chip resistant. |

Try your local wrecker yard with a national parts locator...
You'd be suprised what you can find... and usually good and cheap !
Found 4 $690 a piece Lincoln LS Chrome 17" wheels WITH tires for less than $400 for my daughters LS.. And in perfect condition ! She's always wanted to replace her brushed aluminum ones and when she decided to kiss a curb and ruin two tires and rims... thought it was time to help her out!

The Platinum serier for the super duty is what has caught my eye. It doesn't have any of the plastic like mine has on it, and i think it's really sweet looking. Hope to make the change over in the next few weeks. |
