Hello to all. I bought my first Excursio this week and it is a 2001 Limited with the 7.3 PSD. I love it. I will be pulling a 27' National Ragen TT with a 900 lb Goldwing 1500 motorcycle in it and was wondering if I should or need to use the Hypertech Power Programmer III or not. A friend says I will notice a major differents in the power and MPG's
Can anyone useing a power programmer offer any help. I am new to the PSD and this forum I love them both. Thanks

Hi Dave... welcome to the Ex club !
The beast is a unique vehicle and has tremendous potential for improvement...
first things I did to my '02 7.3L 4x2 Ex was:
a Hellwig rear sway bar - DEFINETLY a must do - 1000% better handling and straight line ride !
a Superchips Microtuner - much better throttle repsonse AND fuel mileage -
and improved the 4 speed transmissions shift, but not up to where I thought it should....
I think they call it the ZooDad mod where you cut out some of the front panel that blocks the air floor to the air filter snorkle... MUCH improved turbo spool up and response...
K&N replacement filter - didn't seem to give me any quantifiable improvement although others have said it did for them - (but for $45 - what the hey :o) )
In total, I only spent about $500 and a little time and had a much improved truck...
Even got 2 or 3 more miles per gallon fuel economy when I was enjoying the improved performance!
Then when I sold the '02 to get the '03 6.0L 4x4 Ex I sold the Microtuner for the 7.3L and the new owner is tickled pink with it....
Good luck and enjoy the truck !!
