June the 17th, 2003 was the best day of my life.
Brand new 2003 Eddie Bauer 4X4 with the often immitated yet never duplicated 6.0 liter Powerstroke. It's fully loaded with all the ammenities of the limited. Dark blue with the gold trim, just the perfect Excursion for the die hard St. Louis Ram fan (that's why I chose this one).
My problem (s) started 3 weeks after I rolled off the lot.
1st I'm driving the approximate 30 miles it takes me to get home, from work and I notice the AC won't get cold. It's 104 degrees outside and it's blowing hot air on me.
It was the low pressure cutoff that was causing the problem.
About a week later, my tranny went out. Sitting at a stop light I noticed smoke boiling out of the back of my Excursion. The tranny would not go into gear. I revved and it finnaly lunged into gear just quick enough to get it to the side of the road. Called Ford roadside assistance (DON'T EVER USE THEM IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO). Towed it to my dealer where I bought it and found out that the plant in Kentucky didn't fasten down the tranny cooling lines all the way and a mix of the heat and driving just popped them off.
It happened again yesterday. I'm furious. MY $53K vehicle is leading me to believe that it's a lemon. Ford is requesting that the dealer ship out the faulty lines so they can inspect them and find out what the problem was. I'm getting a brand new cooling system as we speak.
Anybody else have this problem? |

I did find a couple of lines that were not snapped into mounting brackets and that was about it,oh and a leaky engine coolant hose which ran from the lower front right side of the engine to the heater mod thingy,I installed a screw clamp to fix that.
I feel for the cluster!@#$ Ford is putting you through though  May I ask which dealer there in town you picked up your truck from? I'm familiar with em all in Sac 
We'll be in town for a few days from Aug 18th till the 20th maybe we'll see ya out there

CHP,
I live in Elk Grove Ca. My dealer is ELK Grove Ford in ELk Grove, South Sacramento. The service manager has been more than helpful in this situation, free tanks of gas, movie tickets etc. He has been real friendly and sympathetic. What are doing out here in Cali on the 18th ?
