Just purchased a 2001 Excursion Diesel 4x4 love it!!!!! Looking for info on tire size.
1. Does anyone make a front only lift to level the vehicle?
2. What is max tire size before leveling or lifting?
3. What is the max tire size after leveling?
4. Will the 4x4 take a larger tire than the 2x2 stock height?

These questions have all been answered in previous posts - you may want to check out more detailed responses there. In order briefly:

1. Yes Fabtech and The Edge make spring hanger kits from 3" to 4.5" of lift. Both require adding blocks in the rear and new shocks. The easier route is V code factory Superduty springs that shold give you about 1.5" of increased lift in the front. Use a 1" block in the rear or none. Recommend replacing all shocks with whatever you want other than stock.

2. Some say you can put 285 75 R16's on an unmodified X. Probably yes, but they will rub. That's as large a tire as you can go to with stock rims anyway. Running anything larger on stock rims is a waste of good money.

3. 285 75 R16's should be fine after leveling with springs or spring hanger kit with stock wheels. Larger tires such as 305's or 315's require an 8" wide wheel minimum. 285's are best with an 8" wide wheel. Your stock wheels are 7". To verify this just look at the information on the door panel.

4. Yes in the front. No difference in the rear.

Good luck.

I`m runnig 305-70-16 Nitto`s on 16x8 rims and have had no rubbing anywhere on stock suspension. You could also find some new or used X code springs. They would give you about 2.90" of lift.
