Hey Guys,
Just stumbled on this site...I too am a new X owner. It's a stock Limited with 54k miles just purchased last weekend. I would love to save a bit of research time on modifications that you all have found to be the best and most cost effective. I typically like to throw on the standard K&N and also would like your take on products for increased air flow, HP upgrades, etc. I have already learned about the need for new shocks...these stock babies are hideous! Your recommendations would be most appreciated. I do not want to go overboard, but would like to learn what veteran X owners have found to be most beneficial. Many thanks...this site is awesome and what makes it so are you guys using it!

Welcome, Joe. Glad you found us. The first thing we need to know is what engine you have, ie. Powerstroke (PSD), V10, or V8. Since you posted on the V8/V10 forum, I assume you have a gas engine. But clarification is helpful. Then drivetrain info such as 4x2/4x4 and rear end ratio (3.73/4.10/4.30). The model year is not necessary, but is nice to know.
Good luck and enjoy the X.

Joe, When we bought ours (wifes), it had the K&N filter as well as a AIRAID throttle body spacer. I believe that these are supposed to allow the air & fuel to atomize better, thus creating horsepower. unfortunately I do not know what it was like before hand, so I cannot verify that. As far as shocks, we went with the Monroe Reflex shocks and are happy with them. the next thing I am going to do is a Hellwig sway bar up front, to improve handling(many are happy with it), and the ART brake kit, for better stopping and longer rotor life. I then will change my tranny cooler to the new larger Ford model Gearman told us about. There are many more mods out there, be patient and maybe do a search. |
