RS-TX,
I belive the difference is that you (and I) have the OEM hard plastic mud guards. While I don't want to remove these, if you did would your rubbing be gone?

I believe so, but I haven't tested it. I would not mind removing them except for all of the crud that would get on my running boards. I saw an X without the front mud guards and it looked nice. No major changes, just different. Smoother maybe.

P.S. What part of the mud guard did you have to trim?

Mostly from the inner (engine) side. I just cut a little with a hacksaw and tested it until I got it satisfactory. I still rub, but only when turning while compressing the suspension. It is minor and I don't notice it anymore. What does bother me is the LOUD power steering pump. That thing drives me crazy. But that's another thread...

I also have a 2000 4x4 X, everything stock and have 112k on her. I have had different sets of 285's on the the stock rims. They have had no issues at all. I think you will be ok. Go for it!
