I got tired of my cell phone always being across the truck in the aux power outlet. I could never see who was calling. Not to mention if I dialed someone I was a not keeping my eyes on the road.

I added a Pep-boys $4.35 aux jack in the door pannel. All I had to do was to drill a hole in the dash side of the door panel. Take care not to run into the steel door frame, there is just enough room underneath for most aux power jacks. You are drilling in the plastic only! so you only get one chance for a clean. I used a standard flat wood bore drill bit.

Once in place I hooked it to the hot side of the power windows, and grounded it to the window ground.
this power source is great because it will not turn off when I turn off the ignition, The window circuit remains live untill one of the doors are opened. If I have to open the door I turn the key to ACC.

It works for me.... thought I would share!

Necessity - the mutha of invention !

Cool idea... only issue I would have with it is the SUN right by the window... other than having a old startac for my phone - hey - but they're company phones !

Does the phone ever pop out when you slam the door? That is the perfect place for the phone. Looks good!

No it never has, it's so close to the pivot point there is very little movement at that point.

My Wife says, "What 5 poweroutlets not enough!"

With the speaker in the back of the holder and the external mic routed the tip of the visor, I have a very clear speaker phone.

The holder is after market from Target for about $35.00 I can move it if I need to drive the small car (The Surburban) for a few days.

As for the sun, I never noticed the phone being hot or bothered, the factory tint on the windows keep most of the bad sun out of the truck.

Best of all the phone lights up when in the holder, so it looks cool at night.

Ken, nice to hear that we are not the only family with an X and a Sub. It is kind of amazing to walk out in the driveway, see the Suburban and think " Gee, that thing is little!"
The wife calls the X the 'boy truck' and her Suburban 'the girl truck.' (They're both blue, however.)

Nice install of the cell phone holder and at a killer price to boot

We opted for the Nokia CARK 91-H handsfree kit which charges the phone has external speaker, mic and roof mounted high performance antenna which knocks the socks off any stock stubby phone antenna
