how many quarts of oil does the V-10 6.8 litre engine take i want to start changing my own oil Thanks for the feed back!

6 if I recall correctly. It should be in your owners manual under "Fluid Capacities". I look every time .

seven quarts puts it right below the max fill line on the dipstick

Never put more than 6 quarts with a filter, fill new filter about 1/2 way with oil.
