I was considering getting a K&N Air Filter Intake Kit for my Excursion. My goal is to increase gas milage from the 10.5 MPG that I'm getting. I was wondering if anyone has purchased this item and if they are happy with the install and performance it may or may not add. I have found it for $246.95 at Performance Products.

Hey, I was looking at getting the intake kit as well... I wonder if we get enough people that want it, if we could get a nice discount??? Anyone whos interested please respond!!! 
I will check with a few local shops to see who will give us the best discount and you can check around to.... Oh by the way please note what engine each one has... Mine is the V10

I can't speak personally to the FIPK for the Ex I've only done the K&N on my 7.3 and the zoodad mod on my 6.0), but I had a FIPK on my 5.9 limited Jeep and it was WELL worth it...
Didn't change anything until after 100k on the 98, but when it rolled over 100k, put this on it and it was like I put a new engine in it !!! Seat of the pants felt like 50 HP...
Advertised I think was a 20+ HP gain - and MPG DID go up
(when I wasn't having fun with the new acceleration !!!)

I was investigating the K&N with a Gibson cat back. Everyone I talk with claims about a 1mpg gain.
Does anyone know if there is a true difference between the K&N and say AEM? I know you usually get what you pay for. At any rate, I'll also do some checking on a group rate and report back. |

Sweat deal guys!!! If we can get 5 people to buy they will run $175ea and if we can come up with 10 people $170ea. So far I believe there are 3 of us? Also they said its about a week ordertime frame. Thanks to All Mustang Auto and Recycling!!!! |

Which K&N are you talking about...
i.e. Which engine? the v-10 only?

That sounds great. If we're talking about the same thing (2001 FORD Excursion SUV 6.8L V10 F/I 57-2524-2 FIPK ) count me in  I just returned from a few local shops checking into a group purchase, they wouldn't commit without a number but the lowest they will sell 1 unit was 325.00 so I didn't bother going any further. |
