2002 7.3 4wd Exc 76,833 miles 16 months old:
I've heard of this problem but my Exc has NEVER had ANY surge!! It sat for a week and when I drove it , SURGE CITY at just off idle. It feels like the turbo is spooling in and out and goes away above 1200 rpm.. What the f**k is going on here ??
I drained and changed the fuel filter- still there!!!

HELP guys- is this an electronic control problem, bad turbo control or pump????

Here's my biz toll-free if you can enlighten me 877 365 6902. TIA 4uhelp

GUESS WHAT?? My monthly trip to Long Island NY (now 78,350) and the surge is GONE !!
I have a VERY funny feeling (especially after reading the post from Finland) that the potentiometer for the gas pedal was wet or oxidized!! The Florida humidity was horrible and the Ex hasn't sat that long since I got it. Am I right guys- the 7.3 is an electronic pedal??
GOOD NEWS!! I finally at least drained the tranny pan at this mileage and no no big chunks came out!! It took 9 1/2 quarts and seems to shift better (probably psychological) . When i'm back in Florida, I'll take off and clean the pan, change filter and drain lines and converter.

Have any of you ever scored more than 20 mpg?? My Exc hits a 19 mpg wall and never breaks it??
Ciao, Godfather
