I have a '00 X and a buddy of mine was telling me that his buddy that works at Ford said they have had 3 X's come in with burnt trannys and all had chips in them. Anyone have any comments on this? I use the SMTP 1705 and run the save tow and love it. I would really like some feedback on this.

It's a common fact that the increased torque and power the SCMT puts on the system will tax the weaker parts of the system...
The old adage "A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link" really comes into play when you add power - the torque convertor is that weakest link...
I'm usre more knowledgeable people than I will chime in...

The 4R100 leaves a lot to be disired in stock form. The torque converter is the weakest link among others. If you increase horsepower you must address the transmission. Even if you drive easy it will still take its toll. What you heard from your Ford dealer is probably true to a point; remember they will kill your warranty whether the chip was at fault or not. I did my trans first before i put a chip in cause i new what i was going to do when i installed it.

Enough history to say how the 5 speed with the 6.0L is in the '03 Ex's?
What if you add modules like Quad's ??

Quad sells BullyDog. He does nothing. I invite him here to dispute it. If you install any chip in the new 5R110 you will experience slippage and you will lose your trans. Ford will cancell your warranty. There will be no shift kit for this trans, no matter what you hear. People will tell you its coming; dont hold your breath. All the big transmission people are waiting for an answer. The answers usually come from TransGo. Everybody then trys to copy. There is something that does work and is being tested right now with success. I will bring you more news as i am allowed. I can do this procedure now, but i can not talk about it. We are running a 125 horsepower chip and no slippage. You still have to do the same old converter replacement with the chip.

That's somewhat why I'm waiting on the mods...
To see what comes out next,
to ensure the truck doesn't 'develop' any issues before modding,
and to protect the 100k warranty...
Brought our Ex to the dealer yesterday for regular maintenance @ a LARGE Ford dealer here...
The General Sales manager happened to be walking thru the Service dept as I was talking to the Svc writer I've been using...
He came out to say Hi and talk about the new Ex we have...
Complimented on the Westin Bull Bar and PIAA lights and how I dropped the stock fogs to the bottom of the bull bar... Just bs'ing...
So while we were talking, he asked me if I was going to chip it...
that a buddy of his had put a "115 HP" ship in his and it FLEW...
I had to chuckle when the service writer almost faints because he and I had already had discussions about warranty issues with the mod 
I said, No, it has more than enough power for me and left it at that...

the 6.0 is very impressive and fast. it is faster than the Duramax in stock form. that will probably not be true after Jan. when the redesigned Duramax comes out with variable turbo.
