Hey, I am a new member and want to know what is better and what is worse, and any common deffects/break downs or if there is any common things that I need to know about the Xs, I am looking primarilly at the Power Stroke Diesel models but I have heard some complaints on the 6.0L vs the 7.3L. I also would like to know what people have been getting as average mileage from this truck. All help is appreciated!!! Thanks
Ohh and is there or what is the best performance modds for the two engines. I have seen and heard about propane injection, and I have used Chips in my BMWs and it has made huge differences I wanted to know if it would really make a great deal of a difference. I know that the 7.3L has 250HP and 520FT/lbs torque VS the 6.0L which is about 350HP and 560FT/lbs. I like the idea of the Western Deisel Quad Power Chip especially if their 120HP and 200FT/lbs gain on the 7.3L is realistic but what about reliability and driveability 370HP with 720FT/lbs would be really nice.... But what about the drive train will the tranny handle it as it is, same as the rear end, most importantly what about the engine & the turbo?? Would I need better cooling for the Turbo, Engine or Tranny??
I am also curious about the maintenance, what is there that is different than my Gas powered vehicles, I have only had one Diesel and it was a Ford F350SD but that one allways had cold starting problems, glow plugs getting shot, and the engine had a heavier knocking than what should be used to (I know a diesel is suppose to knock but this one was violent) The odd part was it only had 50,000 or 60,000 Miles. I returned it to Ford after the warranty was out and got a F350 with a 460CID V8 Gas. I paid more in fuel but lotts less in maintenance. I do tend to be very aggressive on my vehicles but I do maintain them very, very well. Even if I lease them they still go back in perfect condition. Just lots of miles!!! Its my work!!! Grrr, ohh well thanks for the help and sorry for the book I made here!!!  |
