I have test driven several Excursions and am curious about the difference in ride. Were there any changes in suspension between 2000 and 2003? or is it just worn shocks or springs? Is there any thing to look out for in buying a 2000 model limited 4 x 4 V10 with 70,000 miles? Thanks for any and all help. |

I own both a 2000 and 2003. Out of the box the 2003 has a much improved ride. I see no need to replace the the shocks etc. The 2000 has 70k and I replaced the shocks and steering stabilzer with only 7K miles, replaced Steeltex at 17K with BFG A/T and front springs with U code at 48K. I consider the 2000 my off-road version, the ride is stiffer but very comfortable. |

Thanks very much for the info. For the price difference between the two, I'll have to go with the stiffer riding 2000 model. |

Did you have to buy new shocks with the U codes? Anyone know how much lift (or spring change) you can go before new shocks are needed? |

I know a little long to reply. No need to change shocks for U-codes. Not quite 1.5 inch lift to front end. |

Landyot, I will be calling you inthe next couple of months on your radius rods. I will be added a factory lift(X codes springs with a 2 inch EDGE spring pack and the rear springs will be the f-350 rear springs with a add a leaf and the 4 in block. I hope you can modify your rods to my application. I will drive down if nessecery.
