A little off-topic, I guess--sorry.

I need a two bike hitch mount carrier that is under $200. The one's I've looked at are in the $300-400 range which is too much for my occasional use.

Ideas? Brands/models?

I've looked at Thule and Yakima--again, big $$$

Scott,
We have a Rhode Gear carrier that works well. Got it from our local bike shop for around $125. Pretty heavy duty.

I have the Thule bike carrier for four bikes. One real nice feature is that it will swing down [or is that back?] so that you can open the doors. It also comes with a built in cable lock for the bikes. My only problem is that my bike is one of those full suspension types without a crossbar so the bike sits higher than normal. Also, I don't know how they can get 4 bikes on them. The best I can fit on is three. I got it on sale at REI for about $200, however that was about three years ago. I also have a two bike carrier that I got for less than $100 from a trailer supply place. I think it was $85 plus tax. Nothing special with this one. You have to remove it from the hitch to open the cafe doors.

Thanks to everyone for their replies and advice.

I ended up on eBay (again) and purchased a used Hollywood rack that looks very solid and was only $100 delivered. I checked it out pretty thoroughly and it looks like this model will meet my needs.

It swings down (nice) and more importantly to me--it is built very solid.

Thanks again,

Scott
