My Question is, Does torque converter selection depend on your gear ratio???? If so, if the wrong TC were put in, what would be the resulting problems/feels/anything. The reason I ask is I had the transmission in my K5 Blazer rebuilt about a year ago, told them that I was going to be pulling a trailer with it(was originally), so they said they put a "Lock-Up" TC in (What is that?). After realizing that my poor little K5 was not going to be sufficient, I bought the X....and love it!!! But my K5 still just doesn't feel right. I recently discovered that it has 3.08 gears and am wondering if that gear ratio and the TC/rebuild has anything to do with it???
Thanks...

As far as I know the gear ratio shouldn't affect the performance of your torqure converter. Also a lock up T.C. is one that is solidly engaged at a set rpm, this is to save the the T.C. from slipping due to a heavy load. (i.e. pulling a trailer) |
