Hei it`s me from Norway again!!!! I have to tell you that it is very very difficult to have X here. Can`t get any information about these cars, so You are my only hope. I have to replace this sensor and would like to know how much it cost to replace that in USA? Is it difficult to do? I am asking because when I deliver truck to the service they can`t tell me anything. They can say that it takes 5 ours or 10 ours or whatever. And one our costs 100 dollars. Itīs very funny to drive the truck now, you never know when the sensor stops. And when it does, you have to wait from seconds to 10 minutes and then it works again.......I am going mad!!!! Anyway, love this truck and just hope that i could drive it...
And one more thing. What kind of tires do you recommend for winter? It can be very much ice and snow here. And lots of mountins...Should I have studded tires or what? And the size- should I have smaller size in winter? I was told so. I am so confused!!! |

Hey Sari: Can't assist you with tire recommendations as where i live in sunny Tucson, we don't get much snow. I however am familiar with the pedal sensor problem, as i just replaced mine last week. What a rip off it was too! Mine started to loose power, and than began to throw a code. Went an used a code reader and determined that it was the pedal sensor. Was short on time myself, so I took it to a local show, thinking it couldn't be that much, plus, thought my extended warranty would cover the cost. It didn't, because they consider it a "wear item". The sensor is the entire pedal assembly, has three screws to replace it i think. Pedal assembly cost me $127.00. Diagnostic charge $75.00, and labor was like 90 bucks. Total was like $350.00, huge rip off i thought. But low and behold once it was replaced i had more response than ever. Am presuming it's been slowing deteriorating for awhile, and I never noticed it. In hindsight, should have taken the time to replace it myself. Another lesson learned. Good luck with your repair. I would get the part, and do it myself. Just my two cents.

I am new to the PSD scene. I am wondering how many miles should I expect to get out of a accelerator pedal sensor. I am noticing a slow down of my truck at about 70,000 miles. Just wondering if that is a potential problem? Thanks for the help.

If mine "wears out" I'm going to take it apart and find out whats wearing out.
Good point.. how long should they last?
There is a post deliniating what is waranty and what is not. Its a worth while read because i'm sure that the PSD is not on the list of not warantable.
Thats a heap of money for a dadblamed gas pedal assembly.
I don't know what your laws are in norway Sari but if you have ice covered roads or you drive on frozen rivers (Ice Roads) then the studed tires are a bonus if you are allowed to use them.
Other wise, I have found the stock tires to be quite adequate for most winter conditions here in canada. I drive a 2000 diesel ltd X and it is phenominal in the snow. Ice is always tricky stuff and you have to be particularily carefull with the X due to its weight especialy at intersections.
I don't think you have to change the size of your tires. Perhaps some real good snow tires if you have lots of deep snow but no need to change the size. The X has plenty of power and gear range.
