Does anyone have the 4½" Edge Plush Ride system with 315/75-16s on their Excursion and do you have pics of this set up? How was the install and have you had any problems with the system, tire problems, power problems, drivability? Anything at all? I ordered this setup today and now I want info. Thanks

I got the lift from Super Duty Head Quarters. The kit was 1500+ with the adjustable trac bar. This is expensive. I am a regular reader at the DieselStop and the Edge is preached like the gospel over there. I am sure it is an exceptional lift kit. birdman127 posted the link to them.
I ordered the tires and wheels from National Tire & Wheel. I got a Skyjacker 4" kit from them last year along with Weld wheels and ProComp MTs for my Super Duty. They were good to deal with and so this is where I ordered my Weld wheels and ProComp ATs for my wife's Excursion. Not only that, but right now they have a Buy 3 Get One Free deal going on with ProComps. That's a big savings. If you are thinking about buying 315's, check out their ProComps.
SDHQ has a lot of pics, but not very many of 4½ lifted Excursions and the pictures are very small.

You can view those same pictures from SDHQ, but larger, at the link below. There are 3/4 (maybe more) X's with 4.5" Edge. You have to check in all the different albums. Check out the Gray (Mineral Gray?) X in "Super Duty Trucks VI" with the 18" wheels. That's what I want my wife's X to look like someday

Thanks for the link, Hitch. Man, they got some photos, don't they!
I noticed your pics too. Our X's are the same except the TT mirrors and engine. When I got ours last December, there were two just alike exept one had the PSD and one had the V-10. I bought the V-10 due to it was for my wife and she rarely drives more than 4 miles at any one time and I didn't want her to have to deal the the stinking stained diesel pumps...although I don't mind it.
I signed up to this site about a year ago, but haven't spent too much time here. I have been busy playing and upgrading my SD PSD and now I am ready to learn a few things about the X w/V-10. I couldn't sign on the other day so i reregistered. I used my same info to do it. Anyway, I need to learn the ropes around here and I will learn to post links and pictures so you guys can see what I have / will be doing.

I have that exact package you desribe. I will get you the link to the pictures on the Super Frod website.
Here you go. http://www.superford.org/registry/vehicles/detail.php?id=1338
Believe it or not my wifge did it for me for a suprise birthday present. We went to dinner with some friends and she met me there. It was not uncommon for her to drive the X to work. When we can out from dinner the valet pulled my X up with lift on it ......IT WAS GREAT...I'm going to tkeep her around....Or at least give her a one year extendion on her contract.
I have had the kit for over a year now and NO TROUBLE! We got it done from Outlaw Offroad. The have a webiste by the same name. I oringinally used 315/75/16 Pro Comp X Terrains. Love the look for are a rough ride as slow Recently (2 weeks ago) I switched to BFG Muds. They seem to ride much better. The ride is great. Last weekend in the dessert my buddy used my X to run 2 errands and said he thinks it has a better (plusher) ride than his Navigator with Sport rims and tires. Throw on a Hellwig and the thing is great and responsive
I went with the Egale alloy Series 102 rims 16X8 with a -20mm offset....nothing rubs. They are fairly inexpensive as well. Good bang for the buck!
Good luck. You can not go wrong with the Kit.
PS for a few buck more...get the dual shocks up front...could not tell you want kind of a difference it made but if sure looks a hell of alot better by filling up the hugh wheel well.

Here's a pic of my excursion when it had just a fabtech 5.5" lift and 35's.

I can share this: I started with a 5.5 inch " ten leaf construction for a superior ride " Fabtech all spring kit, then I went to a Skyjacker 6 inch " Softride " all springs and I am now running a 4.5 inch Edge kit. The Edge is the superior ride by far. I would not even consider anything else.
Be careful with the tire size on your Excursion though. The Superduty pickup that the Edge 4.5 inch kit was designed for sit about an inch higher in the front to start with so they take the 35's easy. My 35's now rub on the bottom of the front bumper with slight compression while turning.
It's not spring fatigue because they came off the truck at 500 miles and I am running dual Bilstein 5100's up front that reduce spring compression. My 35's are 35 12.5 16.5's BFG AT's on 9.75 inch wheels so this might make a difference. but in theory my tires should have less overall diameter than 315's mounted on 8 inch wide wheels.
I could put some U or V code springs in to correct this, but then I'd be way nose high and it would defeat the purpose of going for a better ride. I will probably go to 295 75 16's after these tires do their last 10K. 295's are 33.5 inches as opposed to 315's that sit at 34.7 inches and 11.6 inches through the section as opposed to the 12.5 of my existing 35's ( 315's are 35.1 ). Really not that much smaller so aesthetically I lose virtually nothing.
On the other hand I hope to lose alot of transmitted road shock with the smaller footprint and look for a boost in gas mileage with less static resistance from the 295's. FYI I'm skipping the 305 option because they are actually smaller diameter tires than 295's and wider than the 315's. I can also share that the wide tires stink in snow. Great in sand though.
Interestingly my gas mileage increased by over 1 mpg when I lowered the truck with the 4.5 inch Edge kit. Go figure - static airflow properties?
My install was a bitch, but I had to take out front and rear springs and reinstall the stock springs front and rear. I also did dual front shocks that added work. You will need someone to help you take your front bumper off and you will have to deal with the track bar and drop pitman arm that I did not have to - already done from original lift. That will be a pain. Give yourself two days.

Spartan-
A lot of info there. I appreciate that. You mention a lot of things that I will certainly be on the look out for. A fellow at SDHQ told me I shouldn't have any problems with the 315s fitting...I hope not. If I do have a slight rub problem, it sounds like the duel shock set-up might take care of that. I have also heard of shimming the bumper out a bit. If I recall, my 16x8 Welds will have a 4-5/8" back spacing. According to what I see on my SD, this sends the tire outward a little bit. I don't know how this campares to your wheels.
Two days...
Certainly not. I believe I can this out in ½ day. Me and a friend of mine knocked out my SD in 4-5 hours and it required a spring change. It helped that he has a nice big shop with a lift.
The guy at SDHQ told me a tip for the trac bar. I may need to call him again on it, but I think he told me to turn the wheel all the way to the right, mash on the brake and then turn the wheel back to the left. Somehow this is suppose to relieve the tension to easily install the bar. I also ordered the adjustable track bar. I don't know if this will help at all...probably not.
MrRottnDog-
Thanks for the picture...I had seen it. In fact, it was already in my folder with other cool lifted trucks. I didn't realize it was your rig when it was little.
