I was going down the driveway and put the Big X into a side to side motion and I got the thunking noise from the sway bar. I think the bar was binding up at the drop down links. What is everyone torquing the bolt too? I think mine are so tight that the bolts are not moving in the bushing. I torqued them to hellwigs specs.

I torqued mine on the lowest setting listed in the directions...don't remember the number. But, most of the "fixes" I've read concerning the Hellwig are in the links, most of the time lowering/lengthing them to make the thumps go away. I used the 1st and 3rd link holes and have no clunking or thumping. Also, greasing the busnings have helped a few "X'ers". Hope this helps.

Did you find the noise went away? I've had the same thing on my Hellwig since 3 months after it was installed. Too lazy to make the adjustment. Now it's becoming annoying.

you guys need to remember that this parts was not engineered for your X,it was made to fit.i too have some noises(not much, can live with them)i also notice a more tight rear suspension(binding type)thats what you have to live with when you buy a product that was made to fit.adjustments can be made at the brackets,i looked at them, then said"to hell with it" remember,Helwig designed this kit for existing bolt holes for the do it yourselfer,i didnt like the fit of the brackets, but it works.the rear suspension in my X after the Helwig install is still quieter than my SVT Cobra sway bar(which was engineered by Ford)
