Hello everyone-I love your site and look forward to contributing-

I just purchased a 2000 2wd v10 limited at a dealer auction ten days ago. The vehicle was in perfect shape and was dealer owned. He drove the X back and forth from arizona to california where he has his dealerships. He had all service records. The only issue I had with the X was the 100,000 miles on the odometer. When the X hit the auction block I stood near waiting to see how the bids looked. Well long story short- I won the auction for $13,800. I paid for the X, hit the road, and was shocked at how nice this ride is. I don't know if the mileage is going to shorten my enjoyment, but as of night now I have to say this is the best vehicle I have ever owned. I needed a pick-up truck but liked suv's and now I feel I have both.

I have a couple of questions-

Do any of you have high mileage X's and what are the lifespans on these vehicles.

I feel a slight nudge between gear shift changes usually on the down shift. Is this a trans. problem or is it normal to feel an occasional gear change? The X does not slip at all and is smooth when putting it in gear and at idle.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks

otto

Welcome As far as the nudge you feel on a downshift, thats not normal. Have someone put a scanner on it and see if they pull any codes. Write them down for reference and post them here.

Otto,

We purchased our "new" 2000 X with 100K on the odometer a couple of weeks ago and love it. We also got a good deal on it, mostly because it needed new tires. I upgraded to 285s and had the brake rotors turned. The $600 I spent on the tires and brakes was worth the price we paid for the truck. I've talked to many people who said the trucks will go forever. The V-10 is SOOO smooth.

We've never owned a domestic vehicle before, and my wife is quite impressed with the truck. She loves it so much, she won't drive it to work for fear it will get dinged up. (All black paint). So, the Range Rover has become the "beater" vehicle now. I love the X as well, though I'm still partial to my 1972 Land Rover which is sitting on ramps with leaking fuel tank right now. Talk about opposites. The X is fast, quiet, reliable, comfortable. The Landy is slow, loud, requires copious amounts of mechanical attention and is not so comfortable. The Range Rover just kind of fits between the two.

My only bad experience with the truck has been the local dealership which tried to sell me a $3,600 transmission when the problem was a blown 10 amp fuse. I'm still getting used to the vague steering feel, but it's a pretty minor issue. Of course, I'm also getting used to driving on the left side of the vehicle. . .

This list, as well as the ford-trucks.com forum are full of very helpful and knowledable folks. Welcome aboard.

Welcome Otto! This is a great site and the X is a great vehicle. Plenty of wisdom here with lots of nice folks willing to share their knowledge. Enjoy!
