I am trying to decide which to get.
The 2001 F-250 4x4 v10 is a bit more, has alarm starter, 39K miles
The 2000 Exc 4x4 v10 has a moonroof, plain jane, silver/gray 53K miles
I have 2 kids in carseats, don't tow anything, live close to work. I need to decide by Friday or Saturday.

Buy them both.... Just kidding. Do you need a truck ? We had both, and found that with two children, we needed the extra space of the X much more than the bed of the pickup. |

Get the one you want the most. That's the only way you'll be really happy with your decision. I have always owned pickups before the X, but I don't miss them. I got a hitch hauler for small loads or things that I don't want to put in the back of the X, and for larger loades I use a trailer. The number of times that I NEED a bed are very few. In fact, in the year I've owned the X, I've used the trailer twice - once for a load of mulch and once for a new upright deep-freeze. To top it off, the third row seat has been invaluable. With three kids, sometimes I need to s-p-r-e-a-d them out a little. For me, an empty pickup bed is wasted space.
Good luck.

i wont say that my X is better than anyone elses X. I have learned that if you put some thought and energy into your quest (and you gotta be lucky and know people that can teach you like i have been) anybody here can build a kick-ass Excursion. You dont have to spend big money for big names that dont produce. Two years ago i couldn't have said this because i didnt know. Yes i worked on a lot of diesel transmissions and they really didn't interest me untill my friend with a Cummins upped his horsepower and came to me three years ago. He had the Banks double throw-down mod installed and it knocked my socks off. I had to call all my gurus (Transgo, Tony Garcin from Durite Converter) and get an education as to how to make these monsters live. I am hooked now, and all i do is hang out with Steve Cole at TTS, and Transgo ( i am lucky these people are close friends). I play golf when i am not under a diesel. I also enjoy getting banned from certain boards that differ with my thinking. I can not fight politics or vendors with multiple identities that have an agenda. So, you want a diesel? Down pipe, exhaust, new hoses and fan belt, new coolant, and thermostat and i am done. I am going to miss this one.

You should look into the Toyoto Sequia! It is great then buy an old ford truck cheap that runs better then any of the crap they make now. I was dissapointed with my excursion and have had nothing but problems. My Partner bought a f350 crewcab and has nothing but problems.
Thanks |
