I have a 2000 limited V10 X that has some serious electrical problems. The windows will not roll down when you open the drivers side door plus the Service Engine Soon light has come on. The vehicle has been at the local Ford dealer for over a week but they can't seem to fix the problem. First they said it was GEM module but they replaced it and said it was worse then then they replaced the fuse box and nothing seems to be working. They now think they have a grounding issue of some sort. The dealer is talking about replacing the wiring system. Has anyone out there had this trouble? Do you have any suggestions.

I haven't had any electrical problems (yet ), but I would definately get a second opinion. Your dealer may be telling the absolute truth, or he may be trying to make a few bucks. Try another dealer or an independent guy. Good luck.

i thought it was me, but i believe the fuse box on the urban x was acting crazy, so i took it out, then apart and removed every plate inside, cleaned it all out reassembled it, installed 10,000 fuses, and reconnected everything, worked grat afterwards. however we also noticed that the excursion acts really crazy when the instrument cluster is disconnected. i personally would bet that it is the instrument cluster. they have relays for the windows inside it, also it controls the alternator, then it also has an interface to the security system. i think i can pretty much troubleshoot anything electrical on the excursion after re-wiring the x up.

good luck

I have the same year and had the same problems. They dont end there they just keep adding up.

The switches in the door that control the mirrors and the windows get water intrusion.
They then become intermitant. Demand that they be replaced. If out of warranty then just replace them yourself.
When you open the door the tension changes slightly on the wire harnes causing the switches to work. Also the cab light switch gets shorted out with water dammage.
Another problem that will be a tell tale of your Lemon is the condensation of water in the blinker housing in the front of the car that will short the lights and send the check engine light.
Demand the Dealership show you the error codes pulled from theNext Generation Star system that Ford uses to find problems. Then have them explain the codes. That way the dealership will know that you mean business. They love to charge you money for diagnostics and high tech test that
they do under warrenty.
Also open the hood and remove the Fuse cover and get that fun owners manual that came with your Lemon and make sure that noe of the fuses have water damage or corroded. A shorting fuse causes check engine light.

I have been in hell (FORD) sence i bought mine. I paid around 50k with all the options and over 28k in service to date on a 2000. No joke

Go to this site and complain to the National highway and safty board. They investigate everything and make Ford fix the problems. Here is the link and put your vehicle model and make and search recals, service notices and problems reported.
