Axle seals?

Got my 2000 4 x 4 excursion about one month ago with 69,000 miles. I have driven it about a 1,000 miles and today I noticed a noise from the front end. Jacked it up and found the seal to the axle tube, behind the u-joint, hanging out of the axle bore. When I get this seal replaced should I also go ahead and change the other bearings and seals as well? Is the noise a sign that the front diff is bad? Any Suggestions? Thanks, Scott
