What can it mean if the ABS light comes on and stays on. Is it still safe to drive? I looked in the owners manual and it says to have it serviced immediately. Anything I can do to fix what is wrong?
Thanks,
Jeff |

Is that the only indicator you have? O/D light not blinking or anything? No other anomalies?

My previous vehicles (a '97 Expedition and an '03 Expedition) would do that when the brake fluid was low. The fluid was usually low when the pads were worn, so the fix was to put new pads on, which pushes the calipers back, which raises the fluid level, which turned the ABS light off. Not sure if it works the same in the Excursion, though. |

It may be the speed sensor. That was the case with mine. |

Had it scanned today. Turns out it was the VSS (vehicle speed sensor).
Replaced it and no more lights. |
