I've been reading about the lock actuator. Would this also cause the power door lock fuse to continually blow? Sometimes it won't blow for months, sometimes only days though. I've replaced about 6 fuses in 6 months. The left passenger lock sticks at times...could this cause the problem? Thanks again,
Don

Don, I would vote yes on that subject. I personally have replaced all four of my actuators on my 2000 X. On my truck the locks started sticking, then a couple of weeks later they eventually did not work at all. If they are under warranty, get them changed asap. If they are not, you can buy them online for $50ish and change them yourself. I had mine done under my extended warranty along with one window motor and the bill was around $850! Too bad for my warranty company. Good for me! I hope this helps. |

I'm pretty sure the normal fuse for the locks is 20 amps. I've been putting a 30 amp fuse in it and it still blows. I'm not too familiar with the electrical side of the beast, but if I put in a higher amperage fuse, could it possibly fry some components in the door lock system when there is another fault? Thanks...

Don,
I would not recommend putting higher-capacity fuses in. You're taking a chance on how much current your wiring and other components can handle. After all, 20 amps was put there for a reason.
I posted instructions on replacing the actuators a couple of weeks ago. It's probably on the next page now, title: "Door lock actuators - how to replace". Please read this. I'm on a mission to drive as much of this business away from the Ford dealerships as possible. They are really screwing us, and I'm not one to bend over and smile. |

Thanks, I'll take a look at that thread...Ford dealer here is pissin' me off too ! I have the recurring problem of warped rotors. The Ford dealership here wants $140 a rotor! ART only wants $209 for a pair (and they're better). Thanks again...
