I have a slight vibration and slight roar at 55 mph and 85 mph. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem. My Excursion is 4-wheel drive, V10 and a 2003 model. Any comments would be very appreciated. |

Take it back and ask for another one that ford made that works. This is a comon problem with excursions because of a design flaw, and cheapness of rear driveshaft that has no lube nipple on it, not ballanced right at the factory.
Demand to the dealership and Ford that they solve it before your warrenty expires and make sure they put it on your service slip. The Excursion ranked #3 on as the most Lemoned out car that is on the market. No joke.
Here is the Government site that you can research the problem and complain to. They make Ford fix the problem. Tax dollars at work!!

Thank you for the reply. I would take it back and demand a new one except that I invested $2,500 in a TV/DVD system and I can't afford to rent a car for the weeks it would take for Ford to deal with the issue.
You said it was the Drive Shaft, what if I take it to a drive shaft company and have them balance it??? What do you think of this???

It may get done quicker and better if you did. I do not know what it would do to your warranty though (if anything)... |

Find a good drive shaft shop and let them fix it. I visited about five before I picked one to do my driveshaft work.
Is your truck lifted or modified in any way other than the electronics?

Thank you for replying. I have not made any modifications to the truck. The day I drove off the lot it made the roar at 85 mph. I have an appointment in a couple of days at a local Ford dealership. I'm going to take the information I have learned from FordExcursions.com and ask them to just replace or re-balance the drive shaft as a first step. Man, I hope they are competent.

Good luck - I'm sure you'll get it worked out.
When my Excursion was new it rode like silk at 95MPH. Then two weeks later I lifted it and ruined that ride forever, allthough I do have it running fairly smooth now considering the lift and 35" tires.
