Hi all,
I have an intermitant ABS light and was wondering if anyone knows if there are sensors at the calipers to detect worn brake pads. I have a 2000 X V10 4X4.
Thanks,

No sensor for pad wear.
The ABS sensor could be starting to get dirty or crap out. It is located on top of the rear diff. Pull it, clean it and see if the problem persists. If so, replace it. It's cheap.

Had mine checked for the same type of problem. It was the speed sensor. At Ford it was 17.00.

ABS Sensor and Speed sensor are the same thing. I was referring to the one on the top of the rear diff. I have the part # if you need it.

Wow!
Sounds like we have a consensus with speed sensor.
Good. That's easy to fix!
I had read that the check engine light also came on with the abs light if it was the sensor and my engine light is NOT on. Is that what happened on yours?
I sure like this forum!
Thanks,

Check Engine will not light for a faulty Speed/ABS sensor.
If it does crap out altogether you'll certainly know!
I say pull it and clean it first. It'll make you familiar with changing it later down the road. Then next time you pass a Ford dealer stop in a grab one...prepare for the inevitable.

If it's the speed sensor, your ABS light will illuminate and your O/D indicator will blink. SES won't do anything.

Thanks for the help guys,
Kevin, the abs is on but I got no blinking O/D.
I'll go clean it now and see.
Changed it and so far so good.
Thanks,
