Hi all,
I just installed my new RS9000X manual adjustable shocks.
I had 53k miles on my original OEM shocks and now that I've got the Ranchos I realize just how worn out the old ones were. I had a lot of nose diving with brake application. As well as plenty of roll when going over bumps.
I realy like the adjustable feature. I can go from as soft as my old worn shocks to very firm.
I like the firm setting. I hope the shocks wont wear quicker at this setting.
Now I'm starting to think I might like the remote control.
It can be added but the manual knobs are easy to reach so we'll see.
Next I add the Hellwig rear sway bar!
By the way I got the RS9000xs for $80.00 each from a shop here in Dallas.
I did find them for $74.45 at www.4X4Cyberstore.com but I dont know them and could not get them on the phone so I paid a little more and got them locally.
Thanks,
SRO2000X

This is not a slight toward Kevin or the Ranchos - they are good shocks and I have used them in the past.
IMHO however any mony spent on shocks for an Excursion is best invested in Bilsteins. Just my opinion.
2000 XLT Premium, V10, 4.3 LSD Rear, Edge 4.5" Hanger Lift, Landyot Radius Rods, Hellwig Sway Bar, Dual Bilsteins, 295 75 16 Nitto AT's, Billet Grill, Lengthened and Balanced Driveshaft, Hella 450's, Insulated AC Lines, Modified ZooDad, Husky Liners F to B.

No slight taken.
I have no experience with replacing shocks on the X (yet) - just on Jeeps and other vehicles. I just noticed there are those who are running or intend to run the RS9000X (which, IMO, is their best shock yet). Bilsteins are also an EXCELLENT product.

I have a 2002 X psd, 28K miles on it. Recently got a new car bug and drove the 2003 psd. I noticed alot nicer, softer, ride. I read several messages here on aftermarket shock swaps. While I was at the dealership getting my other car serviced I pinned the ford parts guy down to try to give me specifics on the differences in the 2002 & 2003, and said the rear shocks are different and the front suspension & shocks were different, but he did not have any specifics. Does any body know if I can just buy the newer 2003 items and install them on my 2002 and get the same effect??
I am just a 2 wheel drive, I don't do any offroading, and very rarely tow. I just need a smooth soft ride to haul a whole bunch of people.
Is it better to do aftermarket shocks, sway bar, mods or are the newer ford shocks and sway bar items better fitted for the X??
Any info would be greatly appreciated!! |

Bilsteins or Ranchos = good. Don't waste your money on OEM. You can visit Bilsteins web site and they will give you the exact model for your truck. Good luck.

Hi All,
After I installed my RS9000Xs I was at a Ford dealer and noticed that the new F250s with the 4X4 package come with Rancho shocks and a rear anti sway bar.
Thanks,
SRO2000X
