I had an off-road event to attend over the weekend which gave me my first real chance to tow my rig. My Jeep weighs in at 4350# add the trailer and other gear and that makes it ~6000#'s to tow.
When I bought my X, I traded in a '99 F250SD PSD. Towing the same load to the same place with the truck I reached ~11.5MPG avg. Last night I gauged my mileage in the V-10 pow'rd X and got a little better than 10MPG when I was expecting 9MPG at best. What really shocked me is, because of the hilly terrain I towed through, I opted to not use my OD for the majority of the trip. WOW!

If you are towing, shouldn't it be that way (no O/D) anyway??? |

Nope, AFAIK, you can tow in OD behind a 4R100 - just not where the tranny is constantly having to shift (AKA hilly terrain).

I have a pop-up camper. Approximately 2,200 lbs. empty. Probably 2,500 lbs. fully loaded. With the family and loaded X, I have gotten 11-12 mpg on the highway. With that weight of a camper, the only time I notice it is when I hit the brakes. While not great milage, I was glad the camper only absorbed about 2 mpg. This is while traveling around 75 mph. |

Looks very comfy birdman. So which way do you normally take her, North or South? Looks like you put those "V" codes and spring to good use. |

I have been going south but this yr we are going north. I am replacing the "V" codes with "X" codes and a mini leveling kit from edge giving me 5 inches lift over stock. The rear will have f-250's rear springs with a add a leaf and a 4 in block. I am hoping to run 315/75/16 with that lift.
