Great! I read your mods definitely like how you did your "Tractor" and the picture I am sure does not do it justice...

Couple of questions for you...

Should I be concerned like I am in regards to adding a chip to the truck while it is still under waranty?

Where did you get your exhaust installed? Which exhaust is it?

I am definitely interested in the other mods you have done to the truck, willing to bring whatever you are drinking on a sunny Saturday (did I mention cold) and spend some time in your driveway learning and drooling... I think I have seen your truck during the holidays while I was on 206 North (by Bridgewater Commons)...

My wife calls the truck the tractor. It reminds her of the farm she grew up on in Europe.

I installed my chip just after engine break in well true diesel break in is about 10k, I put mine in at 5500 miles. I went with the Banks Big Hoss so I could take off the tape and pull it out if I needed and I returned the flip chip as I didn't like the changes it made to the engine. I have built a relationship with Licardi Ford service department. They are the only Ford Dealer I trust. Anthony (service manager) have an A1 Diesel Tech (Brian) that really knows his stuff. Once in a while I take the truck in and they don't care about the chip.

Bully Dog is the exhaust was installed by me, but had Midas on 22 tack weld the joints as the clamps don't hold well @ 4". If we don't meet by then ask for Tony, good man and will hook you up. no pun intended.

I'm a non alcohol drinker by choice but more power to you, I be just as happy with a cold can of coke classic and save a buck or 2.

You could have seen me. I live about a mile behind the mall. The place my wife calls home.

Dave,

It's actually to much time on my hands!!!!

I test everything I offer to clients, it's hard to offer a product and customer asks if I've seen it or tested it?

Don -
Can you expand on the turbo upgrade you're talking about ?
Is this a shade tree mechanic job ?
Actually, I'm not THAT qualified... not because of skill, but I just "don't wanna"

TIA for the info...

JohnBoy,

The turbo was upgraded with the Turbo Compressor Wheel. This is a real upgrade and eliminates the flutter @ 1800-2200 rpm we feel under acceleration. It really works...

I picked it up for $65.00 at http://www.piersdiesel.com/FordTurboWheel.htm. It was not the easies mod as it took 3+ hours and required a lot of top end work. (Watch those O-rings under the turbo)

Hey Gents,

Hello Mr Golson, Bridgewater is my game...

I got a whopping 17K out of my rotors before warping. Doesn't help having and 8000 boat loose it's brakes and the X trying to stop it doing 70mph.

Anyway, anytime you tow you loose a great deal of brake longevity in upwards of 50% greater (less than) when towing 5000lbs or above. The trailer breaks do help in stopping but there is still a strain on the X's breaks 5 fold.

I decided to put on a set of cross drilled and slotted rotors by PowerStop. And a set of Kevlar pads. My stopping power greatly increased and no warpage in 12000 miles and I tow 10klb bobcats with no trailer brakes.

By the way, You guy's are complaining of repair costs, it's not brain surgery to install brakes and you can save a bundle of cash. Just think (well I do this way) the money I would save on the job, I either by another Mod or by tools that are needed for this or other Mods.

Don

The 500 I mentioned was just for the rotors.. I did the job myself.

Don,

Between the Big Hoss Chip and the compressor wheel what kind of MPG are you getting running empty on the highway?

What ever mods I would do would be to increase fuel economy. I think I'm going to get culture shock going from a Jetta TDI that gets 47 MPG highway to a truck that gets 21 (?) MPG.
