So, I'm outside at 11:30pm installing my new 1000W power inverter in my X. To connect the '+' wire to the positive post on the battery, I had to disconnect the power, obviously. HOWEVER (and I didn't think about this ahead of time ) THE FRIGGIN ALARM WAS SET OFF WHEN I CONNECTED THE POWER BACK AND I COULD NOT SHUT THE $!%#*&@!! OFF!!! Will someone clue me in before I bend the accessory person's ear at the dealership tomorrow? I pressed all of the buttons on the remote numerous times to no avail. 'Also had no other choice than to leave the battery disco'd in my driveway as to not piss off all of the neighbors. I'll have to try again in the morning.
Oh, and on top of it all, I COULDN'T FIND THE HORN IN ORDER TO DISCONNECT IT!

You have an alarm??
Mine didn't have a factory alarm...only that PATS thing.
When I would reconnect the battery after doing something only the parking lights would flash for a minute or so.
Odd...
The horn is inside the right front fender. You gotta remove the battery to easily access the bolt that holds it on, then remove the inside wheel well from underneath...you woulda been so deaf tryin' to unplug it that you wouldn't have been able to hear yourself think later.

Wouldn't you know it... I went out this morning to reconnect the battery and I was able to turn the alarm off no problem. Interesting.
Anyway, I now have a 1000W permanently mounted power inverter. Oh, the possibilities!
BTW - Costco has the Xpower 1000W inverters for less than $70. Too hard to pass that up.

"Inverts" 12VDC to around 115VAC. You can then run household-current type appliances & equipment from your vehicle without using a generator.
When the alarm sounded, did you try inserting & turning the ignition key? I heard somewhere that always works when the remote doesn't provide a response to the alarm. |

No, I didn't try that. I guess I was trying to hit the wrong button last night in a panic. Like I said, it worked fine this morning. I will, however, try the key thang if it happens again.

I've also seen light duty ones for $20 at the local Murry's. Obviously, not the 1000 Watt unit listed above. |

Yep, they've come down in price considerably in the last few years. I think I paid about $70 for my old 350W jobber.

When I first got my '02 EX I was unable to turn off the alarm without it blaring for a minute or so. The alarm people couldn't figure it out either. I finally did. If the horn is blarring hold the red button [on the remote] down for a couple of seconds. Earlier on, I was able to turn it off by using the keyless entry. I know, many of you don't have that. But it worked for me.
