Yes, it comes with a remote, and I'm sure the headphones will fit a child's head since they're pretty small anyway. I'd personally suggest not getting the option if I were you. I got the option and was sorry I did. It does everything it says it will, but that's the end of it. It's not customizable at all. Every sound place I went to said that in order to do anything, you have to rip out the entire system. I couldn't add another screen to the dvd player (wife wants one in the visor), you can't plug in any other sort of video/audio input device except through the external interface on the dvd player which is pretty weak. (such as if you wanted to plug in an Archos or IPOD, or hardwire a XBox or PS2) The fact that the volume control is on the steering wheel is cool, but I think that's about the only good thing. If I were to do it over again, I'd get a bare bones stock entertainment system and then get EXACTLY what I wanted aftermarket.

I would recommend investigating other car audio stereo shops.

I know next to nothing about car audio and even I managed to pull a composite signal off of the factory DVD system to output to other LCD displays. I also managed to tap into the auxilliary input behind the front facia of the DVD player so I can have my A/V control center porting audio and video into the auxilliary input on the DVD player without having any wires visible.

If I can do this, I would think most car stereo shops should be able to. Just my two cents.

Boar-Ral,

So adding more monitors, etc. should not be a problem as long as the installer is not lazy?? I was thinking of doing what David wanted to do (monitor in sunvisor) but it is no big deal if I can not, the Mrs will not mind (wanted to surprise her with it for the next road trip) as she will just read like normal and let the girls watch Nemo for the 100th time

2000 Excursion Ltd 4x4, Air Raid, Good Year 305x70x16 on stock rim, Reflex shocks, ACCER DVD system, JVC audio system, stainless steel bug shield - TRADED! Black 2003 Excursion Ltd 4x4, loaded! SWAPPED! White 2003 Excursion Eddie Bauer, loaded also! Will stay stock for the winter months ahead!

I would also recommend going aftermarket for exactly what you want. The stock Ford system is a single dvd player and 7" monitor for $1500. I got 2 10.5" monitors, 2 dvd players, 6 wireless headphones, a video switcher, power inverter, fm modulator, IR transmitter and an xbox INSTALLED at fry's for $2100. It would have cost $4000 for similar setup at the local Car Toys, but even at $4000, I'd argue you are better off than the $1500 for the stock system.

We have pulled composite video signals off of the factory unit. (I believe it is made by Panasonic.) I have 6.5" LCD displays that _barely_ fit in the second row headrests and I want to purchase a sunvisor LCD for the front. It is doable, it just takes some patience. I admit that the system is a bit expensive for what you get from the factory, but I really prefer the integrated appearance and I purchased the truck five days before a long trip and needed everything as soon as possible, so the factory solution was ideal.
