Need new tires on my 2000 Excursion and want to know what is a good size for the vehicle. I have been told 285 75 16 and also 305. Does anyone have a tire that fills in the space and looks good?

Thanks

This one is really simple. 285's will go on your stock rims and run on your stock suspension. 305's require at least 8 inch rims and will rub without a small lift. Other's will tell you the 305's are fine, but they will rub. I have seen it first hand - no internet confirmations.

My 285s rub the mud guard. Next time I will stay with 265. Probably highway tread, too. But the AT 285s do look good.

I`ve got 305 Nitto`s on MB Motorsports 8x16`s and have never rubbed( stock suspension). You will have to take off the mud flaps. There for sale. Got to get new wheels and tires(put on a lift). Going to 36"x14.5`s and maybe Crushers.
The set are only 3 or 4 months old, VERY low miles( I only drive the X on the weekends). There in perfect conditon. I realy like the Nitto`s. They are quite and have a great tread design. If anybody interrested, let me know.

305's on stock rims, stock ride height, no rubbing on body, hits front spring only when turning really hard and hit bump, if turning full turn will not hit

305 BFG's on stock rims 2000 4x4 PSD and no rubbing what so ever, 315's will rub the springs and wear very poorly and probably hit the mud/step rail However 305's on an 8 inch rim would probably rub, but 8 inch rim isnt absolutely necessary for that size tire where as a 315 has to have an 8" rim to have anything good to say about it.
