Sold my 2000 V10 2wd a month ago with the intent of moving to a 4x4 Powerstroke! Not too easy a task I have found here in SoCal...they seem to be few and far between here on the used market. I finally had to look in the Lone Star State where they are far more readily available and found a beautiful "ranchers wife" 2001 Limited with 58k, Black/beige in super shape for $24.5. I think I got a nice deal...!
Now, I am chafing at the bit to get my planned upgrades installed. I had the Hellwigs for both front and rear on my V10...are the fronts necessary or do you all recommend just rear? I have no frame of reference as I installed both sets at the same time on the other Ex.
I had the Rancho 9000s shocks but have heard a great deal positive about the Monroe Reflex. I will do some towing of the vintage Airstream but it is not a regular issue. Any thoughts about the two options...oh, and what about the Doetshe (sp?) shocks? I would love to get your thoughts and comments.
For my exhaust, I have a great muffler shop here in San Diego and as with the V10 I plan on taking the Powerstroke to them for install of a nice 4" exhaust, it made a nice difference on the V10.
Lastly I plan on taking it up to GearMan in L.A. in a month or so for the TST chip install and possibly the tranny kit. Mike, do you remember me calling you a month ago after I sold my V10?
You were very kind and generous with information and I am looking forward to heading up there next month.
This is one of the best forums on the net...you guys should be proud of yourselves. For a guy like me that is not super well versed on the mechanical side of things (just get me the performance...dammit!) this venue has provided a wealth of valuable information. Kudos boys!

Wow,
I just bought the same truck, but with less miles (40,000) but I paid $28K. Reckon I paid too much???
Oh well, deal is done and I'm loving it so far, but I'm gun shy because I used to have a Chevy Silverado '96 1/2 ton with the 6.5 TD and it was HORRIBLE!
I'm hoping my PSD 'experience' will be a different story!
Sounds like you got a good deal. I don't suppose the 'rancher's wife' came with the deal, huh.
