My AM radio reception is just flat out horrible. Being a huge sports talk radio fan, that presents a problem for me. Have any of you folks found a decent replacement antenna that takes care of the problem, or do I just need to bite the bullet and get a new radio?

Thanks

Do you have a video system? Maybe you have an FM modulator turned on interfering with AM reception.

No video system, just really crappy AM reception. It gets flat out horrible if I plug in a cell phone charger.

Just a stab in the dark here, but...

I had a 1997 Expedition that had very poor AM reception. It turned out that the antenna cable had corroded, mostly on the end where it plugged into the radio. I had a new cable put in, and everything was fine.

I suggest pulling the head unit and inspecting the antenna cable end. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes to check.

Actually, I've got XM radio and it's great, especially for trips. Unfortunately, I really want to pick up my local sports talk radio stations in Atlanta better. I live just outside of ATL so it's not a distance problem.

Just bought my 01 X PSD...same damn thing - terrible radio reception, both AM and FM. Neighbor owns the same vehicle, albeit the V10, he said same thing...radio won't pick up any stations.

Mine has a VCR installed. Could this be a source of the problem?? Hmm...

'01 X Limited w/PSD - STOCK all the way..and plan to stay that way. Pockets turned inside out with 4 kids!

Radio Shack sells AM boosters. I have to install one in my other car.
