The full-size Ford vans used to have the tail light assemblies that included orange turn signals. I have always preferred that color for turn signals ... especially to the rear. Now the vans have the same tail lights as the X. I am considering installing an older set of those tail lights with orange turn signals. Has anyone else already done this one?
I realize I'll need to run some different leads to operate the turn lamps ... either route them from the front turn signals or from the mirrors. I'll also need to study the OEM wiring diagram to determine where to disconnect the existing brake lights from the turn signal circuit .... the brake lights will need to operate only as running lights & brake lights (no more pulsing). I'll also have to figure out what will happen with the wiring to the trailer connection.
Hmmm ... seems like a lot of work just to have orange turn signals at the rear. Yeah ... I'll do it. They'll make a good match with the orange clearance lights included in the (yet to be acquired) Ford OEM sun-visor.
I too have been thinking of doing the same thing! I am going to a local junk yard that charges 29.99 for anything you can carry out of the yard and get a pair and i will grab the pigtails with as much wire as possible. I think everything you need is back there already! I will take off the tail lights and check out the wires. The vans are pre 96!
