I'm sure this isn't a new issue, but where can I find some links with regard to steering lock-up in 4-hi while turning and on the brakes?
A Ford House shop is telling me that this is a known issue due to the steering and brakes using the same vacuum source. Twice now the steering has locked up on me and fortunately i'm in a bit of rural area and there where no cars where I was turning. If there had been I would have taken them out.
Any way if I could be direct to some threads on this to get a bit of history on the topic that would be great.
THanks,

Never heard of this, and thankfully, never experienced it....
but then again I rarely drive in 4 high for any length of time....
I figure if it's too treacherous for 2 wheel drive,
I need to slow down to give the brakes a chance to stop this 8K lb beast
after all, the go traction is not the limiting (dangerous) factor - it's that darn stopping

slow speed maybe 10 mph taking a standard right 90 deg turn. I picked the truck up at the shop last night. The shop order states working as designed. The shop told me they replicated it in a new X as well. The brief explaination I received is because of a shared vacuumed source. I find this completely absurd and will be on the horn with detroit today.
Thanks

I have received case and tracking numbers from Ford Customer Relations. I have also notified my States Attorney General of the situation. I see what Ford comes back with.

Mine does it in 2wd too, at slow speeds. I just give it more skinny pedal and use the biceps. Its usually only apperent if i havent let it warm up enough.
