I was wondering if any other owners of exc. have speedometers that are 5 mph off? We are new owners of a 2000 limited with the V10. It does not have a lift kit. |

Mine is slow by about 7% - 2001 X. I tested mine using a GPS.

Hi, Steve. Welcome to the site. We're glad you found us.
My X seems to be pretty close. The only way I've ever tested it was by the police radar things that tell you how fast you are going. It is always just about spot on. Keep in mind that I do have 285 tires on, which are slightly taller and will affect the speedometer to a degree. Perhaps with the stock 265 tires I was off and the 285s corrected it. I can't say for sure.
Rockdale, eh? It's good to see a neighbor here. My wife works in Taylor, so she sees a few folks from Rockdale from time to time. Also, I don't know why you would drive this far, but I've been very pleased with Fisher Vincent Ford in Belton. I purchased my 2000 X used from them and they have been honest and helpful at every turn. But that would be a little far to drive for an oil change or something similar.
Good luck with the "new" X. I love ours.
