I installed the same set-up as Birdman, bought a Steel Horse unit from local performance shop for $850 back in 02, (price you pay when first introduced. I looked at the factory set-up in an 04 model and it was excatly the same, except for the location of the player, but everything on the roof was exactly the same. This 04 was not a dealer installed unit, it was a factory install, vehicle belonged to Ford's training division lead instructor for their Asset program he had it as his excutive assigned vehicle.
I did my own install and I would say that the mounting points could have been done better, I actually cut some of the attachment tabs off the OEM console and bonded them to the Steel Horse unit with 3M' s auto body panel bonder, ( good for 40,000 psi tensile and shearstrength)
I could not have been happier with this install, came out like OEM |
