Shopped for X for quite some time. Wanted diesel but didnt want price tag. Looked for 2000 powerstroke and all were @ 28,000 - 30,000 with high mileage. Ended up with great deal on 2000 v-10 xlt 4x4 with 42000 miles - Paid $16,000. Truck is in great shape. Just had 10.5 inch screen dvd installed. Still havemy expedition that is up for sale and the X blows it away. Ride is much better and 4 wheel superior. I will always have an X in my driveway. Any feedback on the TORNADO FUEL SAVER? Want to get most mpgs possible.....but being that I saved @ 14,000 I'll live with it.

Welcome to the fold ... and to the forum.

Forget the Tornado device ... you're not pumping enough CFM for it to be effective. Want good MPG? Just lighten up with that right foot. I try to let it shift at around 2100 to 2200 RPM ... getting 12.7 MPG around town (V10). Highway isn't much better when cruising at around 73 MPH ... but it gets better than 15 MPG on the 55 MPH roads. Also get 11.3 MPG when towing 5200# worth of car trailer.

Congrats on your purchase. I think you did good.

One other question. How much of a difference in mpg does the rear make? I turn @ 2200 rpms at @ 60 mph. I just bought new stock tires 265's. Tire pressure 55?

I dunno .... I have the 3.73 gear in the rear. I run 65 PSI at all four corners. Kept that pressure in a couple sets of BFG-ATs on my old F350 crew-cab, and would get 97K miles out of them. And I feel the X handles better with higher PSI. but that's just my opinion.

With your 4.30s look for about a 1-2 MPG loss. Well...bet on at least 1mpg...

I can confirm what Monsta said...1-2 MPG less than the guys running 3.73. However, there is an advantage to the 4.30's. We can tow a bit easier and if you ever decide to go with bigger tires you won't have to pay for a gear swap. I'm putting 37's on mine and in the end it'll be like running stock tires with a gear ratio a hair higher than 3.73...I figured it somewhere around 3.55. This of course will improve your highway mileage but city will still suck because of having to get that extra weight rolling.

Nice job on that purchase!! Wish mine was that cheap when I bought it!
