Sorry to bother everybody, but a little while back somebody posted a picture of their Xbox mounted in a custom console I think on the tranny hump of their Excursion. I wanted to do the same thing, but I can't seem to find the post anymore. The search function doesn't seem to be working at this point. Does anybody have the link handy?
Thanks |

Not sure about mounting on top of the tranny, but I just got 2 10.5" flatpanel flip down screens (one for the 2nd row, one for the 3rd row), 2 dvd players, and an xbox installed in my 2004 Diesel. The DVD players, xbox, power inverter, a/v switcher, and fm modulator are all mounted underneath the 2nd row bench. One DVD player faces forward, the other backward to the 3rd row. Xbox faces forward for access. There are two IR transmitters, one for the 2nd row, one for the 3rd row for wireless headphones. The FM Modulator is hooked up to all 3 audio outputs so that I can select any of the 3 signals (DVD 1, DVD 2, or Xbox) and play it over the speakers via an FM signal at 89.9. The a/v switcher allows me to play any of the 3 signals on either screen or both screens.

Wow sounds like one nice system you got there! I still need a lot of work on my system to get all the kinks out. I got the Alpine CVA-1005 head unit and the brain. I also have an Alpine flip down screen for the 2nd row. I also have the Alpine DIN sized DVD player under the head unit. I hooked up a PS2 under the 2nd row seat with a power inverter. The DVD plays on both the head unit screen and the flip down screen. I just can't seem to get the AUX-2 (where my PS2 is plugged in) to show up on the flip down screen. I'm really starting to hate this Ai-Net thing from Alpine. Could also be that this unit is old as it came out of my old leased car. Just curious which IR transmitters you have? I think I need them for my 3rd row passengers as I have to crank up movies so that they can hear the dialogue. |

On the alpine try switching the aux output on the menu screen I think it only allows one of the two aux imputs to pass through the output to your overhead screen. If that fixes it ,then you might try an aux switcher

Thanks for the tip, but I tried that and it didn't seem to help. I turned the AUX Output to AUX2, but still only the AUX1 DVD showed up on the overhead. I'm pretty sure the guys that did the install screwed up something. When I look at the brain, I see nothing connected to the AUX output of the brain so I'm assuming that the overhead is only connected via Ai-Net. I'd hate like hell to take everything apart. |

One last try, hook your ps2 to your aux-in on the brain like you have it, then run a set from the aux-out of the brain to the monitor bypassing the ai-net. I think that anything not ai-net compatible won't pass through the system. That's the way my set-up is. hope this helps -Bill

Thanks Bill. I was afraid that you'd say that. I have no idea how they ran the overhead console. I don't even know where to begin to run the RCA cables up to the overhead. Looks like I have some work ahead of me taking everything apart. |

Thanks for the info Adam. I'm on the East Coast so no Fry's out here. Really sucks because I keep hearing about the great deals that Fry's offers. I wished that they would extend them sometimes to outpost.com |

Well, listening to all of these mods is one reason I regret getting the integrated DVD & 6 CD Changer & steering wheel controls. Basically to do any upgrading, I have to replace everything (including the roof liner and center console). It would be sooo much easier to start upgrading from scratch.
